4NCL Online League

We narrowly lost a hard fought match against Group Leaders, St Andrews White Cross, last night.

Both Richard and Andrew played good end games, despite being well down on time. Unfortunately time was the undoing for Richard, and Andrew's opponent doggedly managed to keep checking him to gain a draw. Larry held his nerve in a tight end game for a well earned win. Neil needed to be at his best against a strong opponent, but was not on this occasion.

We remain 2nd in the Group, but this leaves us 4 points behind St Andrews with 2 matches to play.

Our next match is v Jan Luke's Cyberwarriors on 6th April, and our last will be against Shropshire 5 on 20th April.  2nd place is within our grasp, so there is much to play for.

Under 100s League

Here are the results after 3 of the 10 Rounds.

This weeks games are :- Mick v Neil,  Brian v David  &  Peter v Rene.

4NCL Online League

This was set up as a result of the pandemic, and 2 Seasons were played last year. We entered a team in the 2nd of these, and finished in the bottom half of Division 6.

The format is the teams play 7 matches, each with 4 boards, and after this the top 4 teams play Semi-Finals and a Final.

The 3rd Season is under way, with 4 of the 7 rounds completed. This time Div 6 is split into 4 Groups, with the winners of each Group going into the Semi-Finals. We currently lie 2nd in our Group and play the top team in the next Round on Mar 23rd.

Here are our results from the Rounds so far.

Further details can be found on the  web site.

We think that the online Seasons will continue for sometime, and would like to enter more teams in future. So, if you are interested in playing for us, please contact Neil Roberts on 07804 743471 or .

Like many organisations in the current climate, we have not been able to play as we would like to have for a while. Consequently, the site has not been updated for some time now. However, things are looking better, and we would hope that face to face chess will be possible in the near future. Initially this will be in the open air on the Bath Grounds, as we did last year.  Notices will appear here when these are arranged.

A few of us have been playing online on &, and we have entered a team in the ECF 4NCL online League. Some details of our progress in the current Season will follow.

We have also been holding unofficial Under 100s competitions. Mick Brown & Brian Wood won the first two and the 3rd is in progress. Details to follow.

So, we hope you have all been keeping well, and are looking forward to returning to playing regularly again.
